Overview


This unit specifies the skills and knowledge and assessment required to operate the machine safely.
Completion of this course will equip you with the knowledge to:
Plan work

  • Identify and control potential hazards
  • Ensure the appropriate machine is selected or the task
  • Determine appropriate paths to carry loads and methods of communication
  • Be aware of workplace procedures and emergency plans

Conduct routine checks

  • Pre-start and post-start operational checks
  • Report issues, defects or damage
  • Check Plant functions and safety devices

Shift load

  • Operate controls
  • Calculate load weight
  • Ensure compliance with Plant data plate specifications
  • Move and place loads to ensure stability of material and avoidance of hazards

Shut down and secure forklift

  • Shut down Machines in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  • Identify and park Machines away from hazards
  • Secure to prevent unauthorised access

Entry Requirements


There are no pre-requisites for this unit however all participants must meet the following:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Good understanding of written and spoken English
  • Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations

One Day (two day options available for multiple tickets)

Location


Perth or Onsite training available ( anywhere in WA via negotiation )

  • Enclosed footwear
  • Appropriate clothing (High vis vest provided)
  • Sense of humour
  • Willingness to learn

On Successful Completion


Statement of Attainment:
For each machine plus the appropriate RII ticket ( recognised Australia wide)
